Conservatives Against Fantino

[5:28pm, Oct 14/10] We have decided to cancel the planned protest for tomorrow at the ‘GTA Rally for Julian Fantino’ event in Vaughan.

We knew that Gary McHale would be unable to speak because of his campaign to win a seat on Haldimand Council, which left Mark Vandermaas and Jeff Parkinson to travel to Toronto to speak. Unfortunately, Mark is too ill to travel from London to attend, so we must cancel the event. We apologize. The event will be rescheduled when key speakers and supporters are available.

We appreciate your understanding, and would be grateful if you would share this with your contacts who may be planning to participate.

The Conservative Party of Canada is having a rally for Julian Fantino this Friday in Vaughan, and we are organizing a protest to take place outside the venue, details below:

JOIN US to send a message to Stephen Harper and the voters of Vaughan

“…front line officers were sold down the river by…Gwen Boniface and Julian Fantino, who either subjugated themselves to government will, held their tongues, or respectively dreamed up the disastrous operational plan for Caledonia…”

Fantino’s nomination is a slap in the face for every resident in Caledonia and Haldimand County; every police officer who served there; and every Conservative Party supporter who believes in fundamental justice and respect for the rule of law. Let’s tell Stephen Harper that Fantino must answer for Caledonia’s victims, not be rewarded for creating them.

1. Get inspired! Watch this just-released promo video for Christie Blatchford’s book, HELPLESS: Caledonia’s Nightmare of Fear and Anarchy, and How The Law Failed All of Us. Only 52 seconds, but if this doesn’t send chills up your spine, and make you angry enough to support the innocent victims of racial policing in Caledonia, nothing will!

4. If you haven’t done so, review ‘Why Conservatives Should Help Us Defeat Fantino – FAQs‘ on the front page which outlines everything you need to know about Julian Fantino and his despicable record in Caledonia – includes links to key documents.

5. Meet at the Fantino rally venue shown above at 6:00 PM (originally posted as 6:30 in error) for speeches by:

  • Caledonia activist Mark Vandermaas: founder of the Caledonia Victims Project, and co-founder of ‘Conservatives Against Fantino’  and the newly launched ‘HELPLESS by Blatchford’ Project.  Mark has gone to jail with Gary McHale during an attempt to raise a Canadian flag in Caledonia – as told by Christie Blatchford in Helpless. On May 05/10 he presented Listening to Victims: A Fresh Approach to Healing and Reconciliation at the 2010 New Directions in Aboriginal Policy at Mount Royal University in Calgary.Read Mark’s extensive ‘Caledonia bio’ here.
  • Caledonia activist Jeff Parkinson: HELPLESS lists Jeff as one of the co-founders of Canadian Advocates for Charter Equality (CANACE) along with Gary McHale.  Jeff received a brain injury injury after being knocked unconscious when Gary McHale was attacked (as seen in HELPLESS promo video) at an illegal smokeshack protest on Dec 01/07.  Before the investigation into the violence had even begun, Julian Fantino issued a news release blaming the victims for the violence. Jeff’s uncanny eye for details caused him to capture a faked assault by a native smokeshack supporter who falsely claimed that McHale had assaulted her.Jeff’s resume can be found here along with the other 4 CANACE founders.

NOTE: Gary McHale will not be able to attend due to campaign commitments for his run for a seat on Haldimand Council.

6. Bring signs – hand written or professional; suggested messages:

7. Dress: dressy casual or suit and tie. Let’s look good out there!
